Spring Wedding in Indianapolis by openField Photography

I'm so ready for spring (aren't you?) and today's wedding feels like the perfect way to celebrate the nearing of a warmer season. Adam and Maggie's gorgeous Indianapolis wedding featured lovely spring pastels and the most cheerful bouquets ... and lots and lots of love. / Photos by openField Photography

Says Maggie, "We didn't have a strong vision for the day, and I was never the type of person that thought about the details of a wedding so all of the choices were overwhelming at first. We were living in Boston when we got engaged and feeling a little homesick for the Midwest (and most of our family and friends are based in the area) so decided to have the wedding in Indianapolis. We wanted our ceremony and reception in the same place and a relaxed, warm look and feel. We were sold on the Mavris once we saw the exposed brick and open but cozy loft-style layout as well as having the entire event (getting dressed, taking pre-event pictures, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) at one location.

The dress process was easy! I went to a few places and had a wonderful experience with Cassandra at The Wedding Studio. My dress was not what I expected to pick out but I loved the simplicity, which is my style, and the fact that I felt like a bride, which was a really nice bonus.

Maggie + Adam's Love Story
Adam and I met while working for the same consulting firm in Chicago. I was the new girl at the office and while we weren't on the same team/in the same department, we sat close to one another and developed a friendship. We were friends for over a year before we started dating. Adam is convinced he asked me out repeatedly during that year but I actually remember (and my recollection is 100% accurate thank you very much :)) that he only invited me to group events and parties - Not a date, Adam!! Though, to be fair, I should have known he was interested when he offered to drive me the airport during rush hour in Chicago traffic - Silly me! So, we continued as good friends for a year before we finally acknowledged our feelings and have been together for 6 years. We have packed a lot of milestones into those years - moving in together, graduate school for me, a big move to Boston for three years so Adam could attend law school, moving back to Chicago and both starting new careers, the wedding!!!, and now settling in to start married life in Chicago.

We wrote our own vows and both worked really hard on them so they were heartfelt and personal so they were truly a reflection of us as individuals and as a couple. We even sent them to Adam's brother to "audit" them so they were complementary (Adam's idea - ha!) but we didn't share them with each other until the ceremony.

... It was also special to see all of our friends and family in one place. We have moved around and created bonds with amazing people that are scattered across the country so seeing them at the wedding overwhelmed me with gratitude and happiness. The toasts were great, everyone danced and enjoyed the photo booth, and we were able to hug and talk to pretty much everyone that made it to Indy - such an amazing day!"

Thanks so much to Maggie and Adam for sharing their sweet day and to openField photography for sharing their lovely photos with us. xx.

Maggie leaves us with a great piece of advice: "Splurge on a photographer! We were so happy with Lauren and Robbie of openField photography. They were the perfect pair to have with us throughout the day - Funny and positive, professional, providing much-needed guidance so we stayed on our timeline, and they really made us feel at ease. They blended in so well that they were able to get gorgeous natural shots without taking us and our guests out of the moment, which was SO important to us!"
